Worth Sharing

I was in an Indian restaurant in the middle of Fort William, Scotland. I was chatting with World Champion Alison Dunlap about the film I was making, "Off Road To Athens" when this guy came in and introduced himself as just "Blick". He was there to style out Alison with some new eyewear from Oakley before the next world cup race got under way. A long time fan of Oakley products I didn't waste time getting Blicks info and soon after hit him up for product. Ever since then Blick has returned every e-mail, often times calling instead of e-mailing back. He's not only kept me in the latest Oakley styles but has continued to be the man keeping such super stars as Mark Cavendish and Fabian Cancellara in Oakleys as well. It was Blick who once told me how Oakley was the company to foot the lions share of medical insurance when Motorolla dropped Lance Armstrong. They are good people making great products.

Not long ago I was e-mailing Blick about a potential screening of my latest film "Chasing Legends" at the Oakley headquarters when Blick wrote back he was going to be out of the office for a while, his 4 year old son Tyler has cancer. I was shocked - a 4 year old fighting his way up a mountain higher than any Ventoux or Tourmalet. The fight of his life.

Don't worry, there's nothing you have to click or even "Like" - I just thought I'd write about it after having read an article about Tayler Phinney riding his first pro race for Tyler. If you're interested the article is here. One thing is for sure, the troubles of my life just got a whole lot smaller. Hang in there Ty.
