Just found out that the Go-Time Racing / Plum Grove Cyclery events at the Rockland Farm in Leesburg have been cancelled. The farm is investing in more cattle since bike racing wasn't bringing in as much money and God knows they have a huge piece of land to pay for. Understandable. But it's sad just the same. I've raced that course many times in the last 5 years and loved every one (with the slight exception of this past season's SnotCycle). It was a fun, relatively easy course that all abilities could race on. The venue was perfect for camping and bonfires, pushing your limits and bonding with friends. I hope they can work out continuing at least the Bakers Dozen with the owners. Considering how often their races sold out I also hope they find an alternate venue for new races. Great people putting on great races is something mountain biking desperately needs more of. Even their new Speed Freaks logo was great - designed by Stephanie Wolf - my good friend and soon to be mountain bike racer (if I can get her to stop running off road ultra-marathons).
